Dear Kids,
Today is the last day for the US Government to shut down the all the Government department in Minnesota because the unbalancing of the budget. There are so many parks and recreational areas were shut down before the July 4th the long weekend of the USA. There are so many Canadians driving down to enjoy the July 4th holiday in USA but all the camping areas are shut down because the balancing budget doesn't meet to the Government requirements.
Uncle Tony was continuing request the problem of filling the swimming pool or sealing the lining of the swimming pool. What I did tell him that the reason why he was asking because he wants someone to fix the swimming pool lining for him to enjoy. Tony is a very good example to neglect the responsibility because I told him that you have been living in the family for 45 years and now is the time for you to take out the money to fix the swimming pool without telling any people. He wants someone to fix the problem without paying a penny and that is the reason why he keeps on asking to attract people's attention to fix the problem. It is a simple issue and he can't make any decision because his mind is not independent and financially is not independent as well.
To evaluate a simple issue like this, you need to determine the ability and the help will affect a certain degree. You might spend a few thousand dollars, your name will be in the history of the house. Uncle Tony is the only one who likes to swim. If you can do it by yourself, you can save a lot of money. This is a labor issue or technical issue if you try to fix the lining. Decision making is a very simple if you have an answer what to do.

Dear Kids,
The time to learn the independent is very important because you need to determine what to do when the time comes. I have an argument with Auntie Popo to put Wesley in a restaurant business where I think it is a waste of time for him. However, since Wesley is NY, it is better for him to explore more business so that he should have a better idea what he wants to do in the near future. Uncle Alex was stopping Andy to work in a restaurant when he was trying to give up the schooling in high school. His father let him to work in a bar restaurant, he decided to study hard to get into a better position and job after working in the restaurant business.
Trying to work in a business is easy and if you are falling into a business which you don't like then you will be in a big trouble. Good and smart observation are the most important things in any of your decision making because it will affect your future success or failure because of the decision.

Dear Kids,
The time is changing and if you are not following the trend, you will behind the game. IBM and Digital are the computer Kingdom in the early 60's and 70's. They never believed anyone can go over their technology and power in the early 80's. My first project after I graduated in the university was testing a computer of Microsoft technology. At that time, the computer company was working a joint venture project of USA and Japan for the personal computer. The last year of university, we were still using the punching card for the IBM with the connection of the Digital front end. Every time, we tried to test the computer program, we need to wait for 24 hours to get the result back in order we can correct the errors (Bugs). However, Microsoft was trying to develop a personal computer to put the front end (screen), the CPU (Central Processing Unit), the unit to interpreter all the program language into the real time application. The printer is the output of the result of the report to fulfill the basic formula of the computer "Input --> Process --> output", requirements.
After number of years, every family has at least one computer at home and the internet technology to connect the whole world together. Isn't the technology amazing to mankind? Digital Corporation was closed down and IBM is still there because they have so many large applications running on the large CPU without any change due to the requirement of the large memory etc. Due to the technology of Internet, people do not need to talk and meet people very often. It makes people have the issues of meeting people in general. Therefore, you need to establish a habit to meet people so that you will understand the difference of meeting people with the real conversation and the meeting in the Face book or Internet communication. Meeting people is a difficult part of the new generation. Unlike in the olden days, we need to meet people because there was no TV, telephone and lack of transportation so that you need to walk to somewhere to meet the people who you want to talk to. The other way to communicate to each other is sending the mail which took a week or longer before one could talk to each other.
You need to change yourself to meet the new things coming to the world otherwise you will behind the game.

Dear Kids,
I had a meeting with my friend on Sunday and talk about a few things that are difference between Western and Eastern culture.
His name is Dan Freenp who was born in a upper level company. He was sent to a private school when he was young and his father was a dentist and wishing him to become an attorney but he did not completely finishing his wish. He studied a airplane mechanic and working in an army base in Japan for a number of years. Now he is working for his friend whose name is Dan Larson who did not even complete his high school and he is a multi-millionaire now. This friend grew up in a poor family and his father gave him a truck to move piano when he pass away. One time, he borrowed USD 10,000 to buy a franchise to sell a truck and now he owns more than 24 dealerships in USA. His father was asked him how did he know to run a dealership. He told his father that I could hire the smart people to run it for me and he did. He hires Dan for 60 years and he hires him 3 times and quitted 3 times during the 60 years of employment. One time when Dan quitted the job and move to the Southern part of USA and Don invited all Dan's families members to the Southern part of USA and call Dan to join him for the dinner one night. All the family members were so moved when they knew this dinner party was to hire his friend Dan back to his company. This is how you deal with people.
I told Wesley that he needs to deal with the right people all the time if he wants to success. You need to get into the right place and the right time to show you are at this level. Popo was telling Wesley that to work in the restaurant which I don't think it is a good place to work because restaurant is the most complicated place to meet different people. Most of the people were pick up the bad habit in the restaurant because they have no choice. We should stay away from the restaurant business if possible. Although, you can learn to meet a lot of bad and good people but you need to learn to set a standard for yourself all the time. Girls are working in the restaurant unless they couldn't get a job. In the olden days, Chinese opposes Girls working in the public area because they are very difficult to identify the customers are good or bad. Some jobs need to be stay away such as bar and restaurants.
Dan was working in a low class job because his father told him to remember the basic after the depression in USA and end up he is working in a low class job for his whole life. I told Dan that you should be able to do much better with your education and family background. He regrets and he knows that it is too late because that Don is the people who he is dealing for 60 years. He devoices 4 times and messes his life.
Meeting the successful person is the right thing to do and if Dan met a good friend, he will be something else today. If I had a choice, I would not work in the low class job because you will never meet a useful person. People who meet you in the restaurant will know your poor family background immediately. Birds with the same feather will flock to gather and this is the society we are in today. Ken met the Russsian Professor and they are developing the world music CD now. Time is important and you have no time to deal with the people who can't affect your life in the future. Go with the rich and success. Learn from the success and rich to put yourself to be one of them.

Dear Kids,
This morning I went to Life Time Fitness to have a good swimming. I found out that the I could only complete one trip starting from the beginning of the pool. When I was young, I could swim from one side of the beach to the other side of the beach and did not feel tired. Swimming is one of the best exercises because your whole body is moving. After swimming for a 15 minutes, I went to have a good Spa where the water temperature is about 90 degrees to release all your tight muscle. Due to your tight muscle after a day's hard work, this is the place to relax and forget all the trouble. After the Spa, I'll go into the steam bath in order to drive all the sweat out of my skin to make sure 100% release all the trouble and relax in a good mood.
Sometimes, I'll do the push up and weight lifting to improve my muscle strength. The muscle strength is very important especially in North America because you need to do the heavy work such as mowing and car wash etc. For my age, I need to be very careful about my health because the metabolism becomes very slow comparing to the young age. Some of the people were doing very heavy exercise and got a stroke or suddenly passed away very easily. I am glad Ken is practicing t he Kung Fu and this is the best exercise to train your whole body into skillfully strong. It means you can train your body into a very highly alert mode. Wesley is starting working in a YMCA in NY for the kick boxing which is a good exercise for him to protect himself in NY because the environment in NY is very complicated.
Yvonne and Wesley are living in a same town in NY. They can take care each other and hope Yvonne can come to Minnesota one day to see how the country side of USA. Ken and his wife are welcome to come to visit if possible. We will join Michelle and Duncan's wedding and hope Ken's couple will come as well.

Dear Kids,
It is nice to hear Wesley that he likes his job in NY as an intership so that he can continue of staying in the faculty in the next school year. As I mentioned to Wesley and Ken that nothing is easy and you need to pay attention what you supposed to do. Everything you put into attention and hard work, you will harvest what you put into. The largest Chinese in Minnesota was closed down 2 weeks ago and the property was sold to the big corporation.
As the worst recession in USA in 50 years, there are a lot of businesses will be closed down and so many people losing their jobs due to the poor economy. What we learn in this recession, we need to brush ourself to meet the job market and the new technology to meet the new challange.

Dear Kids,
Under the tough economy, it is very difficult for the bank to give out the money because all the good businessmen are very careful to select the project before they jump into the future extension of the business. Most of them are more careful to get the loan from the bank. In most of the cases, the bank will also selects their project to give the loan by requiring a lot of guarantee in the projects. In most of the cases, the good and strong company will reserve a strong cash flow to face the bad economy such as 3M and IBM whose stocks are very strong in the recession time. Most of the time in this economy, the company will file Chapter 11 to reorganize the financial situation. If the company couldn't meet the financial situation, the company will file Chapter 7 as a total bankruptcy which to stop all the creditors to as for the money.
The Chapter 11 and 13 will be the same which allows the companies to find a way out to reorganize the financial in a better situation by stop paying the creditors in a short period of time in order they can find a buyer or the new bank to finance the project. If they couldn't do it, the company will file Chapter 7 instead to stop all the creditors and the businesses.
The simple formula in any of the business is as following:
Revenue - Expense = Cash flow
The cash flow must be positive and if the negative cash flow comes, you need to start stopping it until it is too late.
The ways to stop the cash flow of the business until it is too late as following:
1. Injecting more cash to stop the negative cash flow.
2. Meeting the bank and ask for more capital by giving a better business proposal to explain why you need to improve this business.
3. Sell the business.
4. Get more partners or investors.

There are so many people losing the asset and properties in this recession because of the over spending in the past. In the tradition business practice, you need to reserve a way to exit the liability. For example, when you sign the business contract, you need to consult the business lawyer and you should use a limited liability company to sign the offer so that to save yourself to get into the trouble in the near future. One more clause is that you will never personal guarantee anything if you don't know the contract. Knowledge is important for all kind of business. Therefore, when you sign any of the contract, you need to be very careful.
One of my clients who bought the hotel last year and they are in trouble with the decision to give back the hotel to the bank. One of the contracts they signed for this hotel is the franchisor who gives the right for them to use the name RAMADA INN. They think to stop the business will get away the contract issue and the the CEO of the company who owns a few hotels under the name of this corporation will sue them to pay for the damage. Nowadays, people will try to get every penny what they can get in the business world. Before you sign anything, you need to be alert and smart up. Otherwise, the damage is more than what you gain.

Wesley called me that he got the internship job in NY and starting on Friday in a financial company which is the subsidiary of the insurance company. It is a good start for him although they are not paying for the student to learn in the office as what Andy started his Government job as a message boy and Wesley will work in a legal department as a message boy. He will find out he likes the accounting job after working in this company. He is so excited to be the one in this company. Wesley should be very smart as a student so that he can learn from the job and also he can learn from the people. In NY, everyone moves so fast to follow the pace of the society so that you would not leave behind. Alert and smartness are also important to react people from the people.
Wesley should learn how to ask questions so that people know you have the feed back from your job and never tell your boss in the last minute that you couldn't do this and ending with disaster. Therefore, the communication in the job is very important to let people know you are in the same pace of the task with the other people who are in the same project. Remember, you need to ask questions whenever you are no sure the answer because in the business world there is no excuse for any of the mistake for the company to hire you as a staff. A tiny mistake might be people would give you the warning and the big mistake would be very dangerous for the whole project after accumulating the smaller issues together.

I like to watch the Youtube of Wong Yuk Man about the legislative council of HK. He is the fellow who represents the labor of HK and he always fights in the council to support the low level in HK. His education background is Taiwan university and he tried to against the communist China all the time. His arguments in the meeting was acceptable because he tried to reflect the HK community and the new Basic Law of HK. I also like to watch the www.sina.com to make sure the update news in HK and HK Government is going to give out 6000 to all the HK citizens including all the people who move to the other countries. They also give a date to register all the name and the money will be sent to their account without any problem. Grand mother will registered according to the age. There is a lot of people who like to get into the registration by web site in HK.
It means the information is very important no matter where you are because information is the most valuable things such as someone can give you the 6 number of the Lottery, you will be fine. In school, people can give you the test information and you will pass the examination. Some good friends can give you the job position, you can get a good job.

Dear All,
My uncle told me when I was young that information is the most important thing for any of the business and schooling. When I was in high school, we always tried to get the information from the previous examination and tried to understand the problem in the future examination. We tried to read a lot of business books and watch the TV for the business channels in order to get more information to widen your business opportunities. However, some of the members in the family are trying to reduce the communication with the outside world and this is very dangerous because you try to shut yourself into a black box. You will go nowhere to put yourself into a dead end street.
Alex was telling everyone to delete whatever he doesn't like and some members are blocking a certain email from a certain way which is a very poor manner to deal with any of the information because today's world is information world. After the high tech, our world is becoming smaller and smaller because you can sit at home to learn the whole world activity due to the internet. A lot of people were losing their businesses because they have lack of information. Most of the trading companies are closing down because all the trading are dealing direct to the source thru the internet system.
Our family don't even know the HK Government is going to give out all the HK people who has the HK ID starting in August depending on the age. Alex and were telling me that we don't have this and that to avoid the payment. I can only give the information and you are the one to get the payment by yourself. If you are the family of 4, you will get the money 6000x4= 24000. It is a free money for 100 years and we never see this before. How you can make it happen and depending on your ability. Unfortunately, Ken and Wesley are not the HK citizen and I am considering to apply their status to both of you if you want. You can legally work in HK in the near future. Pls. let me know your concern.

Dear Kids,
There are so many sad stories about the business in USA today due to the bad economy. How to turn around is another way to run the business. There are so many hotels and restaurants got into big trouble nowadays because the people in USA have no extra money to spend because the poor job market. There are so many people in trouble now. Now is the deflation period, it means the money value is higher than before. In Canada, the inflation is very terrible because the house market is jumping into a bubble like USA before 2007. There was so many money on the market before 2007 because of the banks were so easy to give out money, therefore, people were buying houses left and right without any consideration. Most of the people are flapping the properties to make fast money at that time and most of the people couldn't afford buying a house because of the unfair market. Therefore, year of 2008, Government was trying to suppressed the housing market value to stabilize the value. At the same time, they found out the issues of the sub-prime mortgage scandal which means that the banks were giving money to the unqualified people and causing a lot of the forecloses for this market. People who can own the house today are the qualified individuals.
In Canada, the housing market is the same as USA before. The only different of USA and Canada is the money to boost the price of the house in USA is coming locally and most of the money in Canada is coming from outside Canada. Therefore, the inflation will affect a lot of local people because their salary will never chase the inflation. As a result, there are a lot of people will loss the job because of the export market will be decreased. After the job market is affected, people was layoff and the foreclosure will be increased. In Canada, the local people will suffer a lot because they are lack of heavy industries instead of exporting the natural resources. However, if the world is in recession, who can afford buying the natural resources with the high Canada dollars exchange rate. In Canada, you need to be very careful and look into the problems around the world because the local peoples' life are very tough.

Dear Kids,
Wesley left MN to NY this morning and hopefully learning the independent by himself so that he can get use to the working environment in NY. The pace in NY is 10 times faster in MN because the competition is as high as in HK. I have just come back from NY and I rented a car driving from the airport to the city for the meeting. People are driving very fast and crazy too because they all tried to cut in front of me. I was lucky to drive the NY license so that they did not know I came from MN, otherwise, they might horned me as well. My driving skill was very good but the GPS was acting like a Minnesotan too slow. Eventually, the GPS was acting like a New Yorker, ran faster as usual.
The inflation in NY is very high because I parked my car in front of the hotel and it was cost me 75 dollars for 4 hours of parking time. I was told by Yvonne before I arrived NY. I met a few people from Middle East and they took us to a very ordinary Chinese restaurant which was cost them 700. For me, the meal was cost 1000 because I flew from the MN which was not cheap. We all hope to have the business connection to work out something in the future.
